Tamaggo 360 Panoramic Camera Has Your Back

Tamaggo 360 Panoramic Camera Has Your Back
This cute little robotic egg will shoot a 360˚ panorama, instantly

There are now plenty of ways to shoot panoramas with your iPhone, from add-on donut-shaped lenses to a whole home-screen's worth of app that will stitch and twist your images into a patchwork poster. But what if, like me, you don't own an iPhone? The answer, in 360˚ pano terms at least, is the Tamaggo 360-Imager.

If R2D2 had been designed in the 1980s, he'd have looked like the Tamaggo, a dedicated pano-shooting camera with a 14MP sensor and a panomorph lens. Snap a picture and the camera will auto detect its orientation and create either a Streetview-style all-rounder or a more traditional long (horizontal or vertical) panorama.

The $200 egg is pretty feature packed. There's a touch-screen for framing and review, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, and the entire pano is taken in one snap. There's also an integrated stand.

For $200, this thing could be a steal. Not only can you go back and check what the creep behind you was doing while you shot a picture of your hot girlfriend, you can pull parts of the picture apart later and recombine them. I wonder if there will be a companion app for the iPad or iPhone after all?

The Tamaggo will be on sale in the second quarter of this year. And whatever you do, don't say Tamagotchi.

Photorito, a Lens-Wrapping Burrito

Photorito, a Lens-Wrapping Burrito
Hey, San Franciscans (or “Friscans”, as I know you all love to be called), check out this gadget-flavored version of your favorite food. It's the Photorito, a Tyvek and neoprene burrito that you stuff with camera lenses instead of delicious beans and meat.

The Photorito comes from the fine folks at Photojojo, situated in Burrito Ground Zero aka. The Mission District of SF. The neoprene inside protects the lens when wrapped up, and the tortilla-patterned skin will protect it from really dumb (or myopic) thieves. It's big enough to wrap around lenses from 24mm-200mm, and you won't wake up with its taste still in your mouth the next morning.

The Photorito is available now, for $20.
