Panasonic introduces TS4, TS20 rugged compact cameras

Earlier today we reported on Panasonic's new Lumix ZS20 compact camera, well if you thought that was all there is, you were wrong. Adding to their list of compact cameras, Panasonic also unveiled the TS4 and the TS20, both of which have been designed for rugged use, with the former (pictured above) aimed at users with more demanding needs, while the latter is being aimed at the more entry-level crowd who might appreciate some ruggedness from their compact cameras. According to Panasonic, the TS4 is able to withstand water depths of up to 40 feet, drops of up to 6.6 feet, most dust and temperatures down to 14F. It will also feature an altimeter, a barometer log and like the ZS20, it too will come with a new GPS system for advanced geotagging. It will sport a 12.1MP CCD-based sensor, an internalized 4.6x (28-128mm) zoom lens and has the ability to record 1080i quality videos. For the more advanced user, the TS4 will also come with manual controls. For those who might not need such a rugged camera, the TS20 might just do the trick. The TS20 will be able to withstand water depths of up to 16 feet, drops of 5 feet, dust resistance and will be able to withstand temperatures of 14F. It will also feature video recording quality of up to 720p HD. The TS20 is expected to be made available by the end of February for $180, while the TS4 will be available in March for $400.

Panasonic Lumix FX80 with touchscreen display unveiled

It looks like if you were in the market for a new compact camera, you might be spoilt for choice thanks to Panasonic taking the wraps off a host of new compact cameras. We had previously reported on the Lumix ZS20, and the Lumix TS4 and TS20 rugged compact cameras, and adding to that list of compact cameras from Panasonic will be the Lumix FX80. The FX80 features a 12.1MP camera sensor, a 24mm f2.5 wide angle lens, 5x optical zoom, a 3" LCD touchscreen display that features touch autofocus (much like how you would focus with smartphone cameras), and the ability to record Full HD videos. Additional features that customers can expect from the FX80 includes a variety of filter effects, such as Expressive, Retro, High Dynamic, Sepia, Dynamic Monochrome, High Key, Low Key, Miniature Effect, Toy Effect and Soft Focus. Pricing and availability of the Panasonic Lumix FX80 has yet to be determined, but stay tuned as we will keep you informed when more information has been made available.

Panasonic TS20 Rugged Digital Camera

Now that compact digital cameras are becoming more popular, making them tougher and more rugged just seems the right thing to do. After all, that ruggedness can provide them added flexibility when it comes to usage. And with compact digital cameras like the new Panasonic TS20, it might just be what most people with clumsy hands or who favor more outdoor shots prefer to have. The Panasonic TS20 Rugged Digital Camera is one of the new releases from Panasonic's LUMIX line. This new digital camera is designed for rugged use, making it an ideal choice for casual users looking for a tough camera. It features a rugged housing that protects it against water damage even if submerged 16 feet underwater. It is also shock proof if dropped at a height of 5 feet and is also dustproof and freeze proof. It also comes with a 16.1 MP sensor, 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens and a 4x optical zoom, and can shoot in 720p HD aside from still pictures. The 12.1-megapixel camera also provides a 24mm f2.5 wide angle lens, a 5x optical zoom and a variety of filter effects such as Expressive, Retro, High Dynamic, Sepia, Dynamic Monochrome, High Key, Low Key, Miniature Effect, Toy Effect and Soft Focus. Panasonic Lumix TZ25 Compact Superzoom Camera

Panasonic has announced a new compact superzoom camera to its range called the Lumix TZ25 (ZS15 in America). This pocket-sized camera sports a 12.1-megapixel MOS sensor, a 24mm ultra wide angle lens, a 16x optical zoom lens, a 3.0-inch 460k-dot LCD display and 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities (50fps). Nikon COOLPIX P510 High Power Zoom Digital Camera

While digital cameras seem to be introduced in the market almost every quarter, the makers can't seem to stop topping each other by coming up with the best features for every new model that they can come up with. It is the major makers that seem to keep up with this on a regular basis and that is good for some consumers who always look for the latest and the best digital cameras around.
