Logitech C615 HD Webcam

Sony NEX-C3 Is Now Official

Sony has officially announced the NEX-C3, the world's smallest, lightest, interchangeable lens camera. Weighing at just 225 grams, the camera packs a 16.2-megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and a 3-inch LCD display that allows you compose and preview the effect of your settings even in bright sunlight. The Sony NEX-C3 will be available as a kit with the 18-55mm E-mount lens for $649, or $599 with the 16mm F2.8 lens. [Ubergizmo]

Replay XD1080 Sports Camcorder

The Replay XD 1080 is claimed to be the world's lightest and smallest 1080P camera so far. Measuring 28mm x 93mm and weighing at only 3 ounces, this camcorder captures color rich 1080p or 960p HD video at 30 frames per second or 720p HD at 30x60 frames per second for high-speed action. The system comes equipped with a crystal clear non-fisheye, non-distorted 135 degree field of view lens and a 5-megapixel image sensor. The Replay XD 1080 has a live HDMI output that allows it to be connected to any HDMI source for framing a shot. Additional specs include a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), an included 4GB microSD card and a secondary input for mics or other sources. No word on pricing or availability so far.

Sony α35 camera ready to rock and roll

Sony's latest entry into the interchangeable lens camera market comes in the form of the Sony α35, where it will also go by the model number SLT-A35. This new shooter will deliver pro-style shooting speeds as well as diverse creative options to photographers of all abilities. Continuing where the α33 and α55 models left off, the α35 camera will sport Sony's Translucent Mirror Technology that paves the way for responsive, accurate continuous autofocus, never mind if you are shooting high-speed still photos or getting a full HD movie recorded onto a large screen memory card.

The Sony α35 camera will also see the debut of Tele-zoom High Speed Shooting that magnifies a central portion of the image area, effectively delivering 1.4x magnification while shooting at up to 7 fps. Not only that, continuous tracking autofocus of still or moving objects is also thrown into the mix to make it able to capture fast-moving action be it sports or children's expressions, where the latter is more often than not spontaneous.

You will get a 16.2-megapixels resolution with the Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, essentially capturing detailed, low-noise still and HD video images. Since the Sony α35 model will play nice with 32 A-mount interchangeable lenses, you won't have a problem dealing with various shooting situations as there ought to be a lens to step into the shoes at that time. The Sony α35 interchangeable lens camera will arrive at the market this August for around $700 with an 18-55mm kit zoom lens, while those who opt for the body only model will pay $100 less.

Sony's New Compact Mirrorless Camera, the NEX-C3

It looks like the rumors and leaks were dead on — almost. Sony's latest mirrorless NEX camera has been made officially official, and it is indeed a smaller, lighter version of the NEX-3. Called the NEX-C3, it's essentially a compact camera with a big sensor and interchangeable lenses.

The one thing the rumors got wrong was actually pretty big. “Leaked” photos showed the same camera we have here, only with a bulky flip-out LCD screen. This has disappeared in the shipping model. I checked back to see if maybe the leaked photos showed an unlabeled NEX-C5 instead, but it says C3 on the top plate.

On to the specs. A new sensor gives 16.2 MP, captures 720p video and will shoot in the dark at up to ISO 12,800. It has a big 3-inch LCD screen, and Sony claims that the battery will last for 400 still shots on a single charge. That's not bad for a mirrorless camera — my Panasonic GF-1 is the only camera I ever bought a spare battery for (and it cost almost €90, or $130. Ouch).

The NEX-C3 will be available in August and cost $650 in a kit with an 18-55mm lens. There will also be a version shipping with a 16mm lens for $600.
