During
CES 2012, we reported that Polaroid debuted the SC1630 smart camera
that runs on Android, and now it looks like Samsung might have something
similar planned. Thanks to a trademark filed by Samsung, it seems that
the South Korean company has submitted an application to trademark the
name "Samsung Galaxy Camera", with the name being associated with
"cameras and camcorders". Unfortunately apart from its name, little to nothing is known about what Samsung's plans are. The company has been known to put out a variety of gadgets that range from smartphones, to cameras, to displays and even kitchen appliances, so for them to launch a new camera would not be a stretch of the imagination. However the Galaxy moniker has so far been reserved for the company's series of Android smartphones and tablets, which has us wondering if they are going down Polaroid's path with a "smart camera", or will they instead be launching a phone with an über camera that could match the likes of the Nokia N8? |
